I needed a space heater in an office without any direct heat, so an S9 fit the bill perfectly.

How do you deal with the sound? I've got a space heater in my office pulling 1500W the s9 can replace perfectly if not for the noise....

I don’t mind it. I think it sounds a lot louder when it’s recorded and you hear it online.

If I underclock it a little bit it’s even better.

Also, can mod it out with quieter fans, but I also kinda like hearing the burrrrrrrr, and it’s in an isolated basement office.

Is it just the fans that cause the noise? I've got a bunch of extra BeQuiet and Noctua case fans laying around that are probably loads quieter.

I'm a complete mining noob - how do you go about underclocking the machine?

I wonder how effective would it be if I built a box and line the inside with sound dampening foam or dynamite. How much would that reduce the noise I wonder... I'd also have to vent it out of course... just thinking out loud.

Honestly the power supply fan is more annoying (higher, winier pitch) than the actual ASIC fans themselves.

Under or over clocking is done in the firmware OS — I’m running Braiins.

I think for sound dampening Owens Corning 703 fiberglass acoustic insulation works wonders. I use it for audio baffles in a stereo setup and it’s the real deal. That egg crate foam can’t touch this stuff.
