I take pride in calling myself ignorant. There are an infinite number of facts. I know a small finite set of them. I'm ignorant of all the others.

So long as everybody recognizes this about themselves, and continues to learn and update their worldview, it's fine to share your (partly wrong) world view and be corrected.

Exactly. Some people make it a point to defend a partially I formed opinion. I don’t see the point. Just accept that there are things you probably don’t know and take no offense at not knowing them.

i am like a Japanese Martial Arts Master - i seek out the greatest Masters and challenge them to a duel - if i lose the fight i beg them to become my teacher. then after they teach me their secrets i fight them again and this time kill them. then i repeat the process.

there is also another way to play the same game. if you see a young talent on the rise you, as a great master yourself, offer to teach them. then you deliberately teach them wrong so that they can never defeat you.

either way it's not about being right. it's about challenge and growth.

additionally it's OK to lie during an argument if you can do so without getting caught and it allows you to secure a victory.

if your opponent didn't catch the lie then they aren't worthy of being your teacher anyway.

however if you always use the same lie and always get away with it you will run the risk of believing it yourself ...

this is how the Jews ended up believing that they are the victims ...
