What flavor of Linux would you use for a laptop?

I have an extra 256 ssd that I want to install Linux on and boot it on my MacBook.

No properly. I've played on Manjaro for a few minutes (buddy's computer).

Playing around and getting comfortable with using it. I wouldn’t need it to be the easiest because I would just be able to unplug it and use the MacBook.
