The angel Gabriel appeared to a virgin named Mary in Nazareth, announcing she would conceive and bear a son, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. Despite her virginity, she humbly accepted God's will, declaring herself the Lord's servant. She visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist, and Elizabeth recognized Mary as the mother of the Lord. Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem and raised Him in Nazareth. She was present at the foot of the cross during His crucifixion and witnessed His resurrection.
