Too many people suffer in silence, getting help ultimately involves professionals. We need to treat mental health like we do with any physical condition.

Recognizing that we are struggling in some ways is critical. Finding support is not as complex as we make it to be.

We can help others by becoming a trusted and nonjudgemental “safe” person that keeps social contact and invites real talk.

1. Listen, learn about their experience, and offer reassurance.

2. Be calm, patient, and don’t make assumptions.

3. Avoid confirming or denying their beliefs and experiences

4. Find and provide helpful information and resources
