Maybe his clippers burnt out half way through cutting his hair. I had that happen once, had to go to Walmart with a hat on to get a new pair.
Fun fact. I did that as a kid. I've always had my hair cut at home. My mom didn't realize she missed some bangs. Being young I thought it was cool and told her to leave it. If I recall correctly it wasn't even the entire length of the forehead. 😜
