More examples of fediverse admins that just make extensively written rules that sound nice but are in effect, meaningless:

https://icosahedron.website/about

"interpretation of the rules are up to the admins. Admin decisions override the rules. Admin decisions are final."

Translation: We can do what we want, and you don't have a say. Don't argue, just lie down already.

Yes, the owner/admin have executive control over a system, obviously, but go to these lengths and verbiage about the rules when the summary of the rules is that "the rules don't apply to us"? It's window dressing. It's pretense and little more than that.

Also, the usual blurb about "racists/fascists" (ofc conflated, but thats the fediverse for you) making it into the ruleset is also par for the course for the "normie"/schizotroon fedierse. Not unlike if there was a hypothetical rule that out of the blue states

PEOPLE WITH PARIS HILTON DOGS ARE NOT WELCOME HERE

😳

Whatever. None of this is surprising in the least anymore, and fediverse will continue to slowly languish and dry out like a Death Valley riverbed because these keyboard dictators are a dime a dozen and people understandably can't stand them.

For the same reason, Bluesky sucked up a lot of mastodon users. Less irresponsible kids playing god, better UX, and of course far more people (but people still complain about it being dead...).
