Good point, what do you think "representation" meant to a revolutionary war era colonist?

I imagine that it meant having a colonist-elected official serve as a member of the British parliament. What do you think?

By the way, I hate to double post, but there's no reason to hold the colonists' political views in high esteem if you have some reason to believe they were wrong. I personally don't believe that the founding fathers fully recognized the full extent of the rights that people have, including what they said about the right to freedom of speech.

Yeah I believe the founders probably had good intentions but failed at what they wanted to do. So far it seems their constitution hasn't been able to protect the rights of citizens in many instances.
