"Passkeys" are a concept that falls somewhere between Google no longer using the motto "don't be evil" and a hardware key.

It's not ideal that people can avoid using dedicated hardware. This slows down the integration of hardware signing with services and floods the market with "virtually secure" secure element chips.

Firmware supporting new shite coins and tokens takes precedence over not leaking your private key.
