This week our temperatures will not get above freezing. Some nights will be single digits or below zero.

The goal this week is to keep the animals alive. Husband and I are strategizing how to get water several times each day to pigs in the woods and sheep at the barn. Neither have the benefit of electricity.

How are you doing on your homesteads?

What is your biggest challenge in the cold?

Water is our biggest challenge in freezing weather. Stock tank heater for livestock close to barn but we haul buckets for the rest.

Same. We have a stock tank heater running for the cow in our pasture right behind the house. Will be running buckets for everyone else.

I think water is the main thing also. No electric away from the house.

Same.

No livestock on property, but hauling firewood is a twice a day affair this week.

Oh, and got lazy with the splitting before the freeze… so threes that to look fwd to.

Fing cold!

At least chopping and hauling warms you up.
