1 dead in an off-duty officer-involved shooting outside a downtown St. Louis bar

A fight involving 25 to 50 people broke out outside the Wheelhouse Downtown in St. Louis around 3 a.m. on New Year’s Day

The off-duty officer was working as a security guard

Security guards saw a 25-year-old man armed with a firearm during the fight

The man refused to drop his weapon when ordered, and the officer shot him in the chest

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries

A 26-year-old man reported being grazed by a bullet during the same incident, but his injuries are non-life-threatening
