Martyr Oprea of Săliştea, a Romanian Orthodox priest, refused to convert to the Habsburg-imposed Uniate Church in the 18th century. He was imprisoned, tortured, and ultimately died in a dungeon for his unwavering Orthodox Faith, choosing eternal life over earthly compromise. His courage fortified many.
