I’ve been running my ln node since 2018 without any issues, I just had a random HDD failure due to power outage which corrupted my bitcoin core utxo set :(
Issues will happen, definitely not a set-and-forget-forever.

I have a TB ssd I use for other things, the HDD I use for bitcoin is 2TB, I don’t mind slow disk for bitcoin stuff.
Isn’t there a lot of writing to disk though with both a Bitcoin Core node and a CLN node? Prolly more fault tolerant over time with a SSD? Seems like the HDD has worked just fine for you until the power outage but still
My lightning node sqlite uses multiple ssds . The disk write on core happens once every 10 minutes so HDD works fine.
