Praying sounds silly to the sophisticated but that's the stuff humanity is made of when our world produces things that even our critical thinking are incapable of processing.
I drive from Maryland to Virginia after Hurricane Isabel and route 17 had huge trees down on both sides of a divided 4 lane highway. Sometimes I drove down the wrong way and sometimes I put my truck in 4 wheel drive to go through a farm pasture or person's yard. I was in shock but acting with what little knowledge I had.
When I finally made it to my mobile home in Virginia I expected my huge pine tree to be in top of it. My trailer was fine. Luckily my neighbor has cash and asked me if I needed any money until I could cash my check. His mobile home was fine too, but we didn't have power.
The bearer instrument of cash was what helped. At least I could get food and buy gas. Grocery stores that were open had diesel generators. Gas stations also had generators.
I shudder to think what our CBDC or ESG world world be like but I image we are just steps away from Myanmar.
My parents were without power for 3 weeks in Virginia. Now they have a generator and most affluent families do.
We still have a lot of people and perhaps more than in the past dependant on government and hand outs.
I always have power options. I fuel up all my cars and truck. I have power inverters. I have multiple battery packs. My wife and I pack up and leave town with our cats and we stay with friends.
I can only pray and hope that shelter is available and that rebuilding is easy.
We really do need a bearer instrument to transfer wealth and energy. I hope that #Bitcoin can certainly improve but it's dependent on a lot of infrastructure that can be wiped out. Cold storage, seed phrases and the distributed nodes are a great blessing. Lightning, on the other hand needs a lot of work. At least someone in Myanmar could have a Bitcoin wallet on chain and remember some words or have the private key and escape misery, maybe.
I don't know.
I only know that mother nature is very big and we are nothing compared to the universe. Still our human lives are blessings and we must appreciate this life and bless as many others as we can.
