If aliens are collecting samples for gene hybridization it’s so weird to me why don’t they just synthesize the DNA themselves? We have the full genomes of thousands of people and synthesizers are easy to run— I mean, what more diversity can you possibly need???

Makes me think we could be missing something critical about DNA more generally, though.
