The one trope in movies that always moves me (to tears in the case of "3:10 to Yuma" (the original)) is the trope wherin the protagonists heroic or fantastical past is revealed to be a lie , usually crushing those that looked to him as a role model and need them the most whilst crippling the protagonist with deep humiliation and self-loathing, only forcing them to transcend and become something greater than the lie in the end through some incredibly selfless and final act.

Unforgiven is almost the opposite archetype. But still fucking amazing.

The "you tried, but can't outrun your past" but you can give it absolute hell.

Guaranteed watching this, reminds me of "pale rider" when the preacher goes to the bank to take his guns out of the safety deposit box.
