From my experience, the best way to start is simply WoS.
I know it’s custodial but it’s very easy to use and probably ok for the small amount of SATS he’ll be workin with off the start.
I like phoenix wallet, very simple to use.
I use Phoenix, haven’t tried Mutiny yet. The Nostr connection really does appeal to me and I plan to try it eventually.
Firstly I welcomed your son to the decentralized corner. Speaking of which lightning wallet to use, well I have tried all those ln wallets. There are some that are not worthy, I won't mention names here. And there are some that perfectly fit in. Wallets like WOS(wallet of Satoshi), Alby wallet and Blue wallet are perfectly okay.
