On July 6, 2022, an explosive device was detonated at the site, severely damaging one of the stone slabs.

Surveillance footage captured a flash of light during the explosion and a vehicle fleeing the scene, but no suspects have been arrested.

Despite an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the case remains unsolved.
