The problem with duress modes in #bitcoin wallets, here the latest Unstoppable wallet update, is that the app shows under settings that there is a duress mode set up. Someone who's educated and determined enough to target and wrench attacks me specifically for my bitcoin would also check for settings -> security and immediately see that I try to bullshit him. Duress mode has to be set up at first start or never, leaving no traces in the UI. Like Coldcard does it đź‘Ť
Use passphrase instead. Effectively each passphrase under your seed phrase creates a new wallet and you can have as many passphrases as you want (meaning have a small amount on your “clean” seed phrase with “zero” passphrase and put your main savings under the passphrase).
There will be no indication of the fact that you have a passphrase, so essentially you can use it as duress wallet without “duress” menu item in your hardware wallet.
Yes, that looks like a design flaw. Unless it says that anyway (as in you haven't set up a duress pin).
Best is to use multiple passphrase. One with a little BTC & the other with a lot more. Wrench attack forces you to reveal some & hope they accept it & leave happy.
