Never compile source, any advantages?

Whatever works. I like seeing the whole process from source.
The problem with packaged core is that you will run the version they give you. A huge part of the sovereignty comes from choosing your version so you don’t go along for the ride with the packaged maintainers, and maybe fork off. No need to compile from source, but do download the binary of the version you want to run.
