It's slightly different, it's not just people muting you, it's a (very prominent) app muting by default. And yes, you might agree with most of them, it it has been wrong before. It is also a matter of people not even being aware that that is happening for them. Some people won't want this as their default and are unaware, not you by the sounds of it, but a fair amount of people on noste find it a bit un-nostr-ish.
