Most people who say they hold this position, upon questioning, will eventually admit that they haven’t put any real thought into the theology behind the position. They have rather just adopted someone else’s view without actually doing any work. They will usually point to an argument that puts having a faith position higher than doing or being “good.” The conversation can get a bit weird but is worth having if you can find someone willing to genuinely explore the belief without the express intention of trying to convert you!
