I was utterly captivated by that photo as a young boy. It somehow captured not only that there 'was' soul in that girl, but that there was a unique depth of *that* soul, that I didn't recognize in most of the suburbians. A seriousness. I think it made me aware, maybe a little, that some people have a lot more going on in there than others. I still look for that. And strive to be that.

The utter depth of being is revealed in that gaze. Imagine being forced run from your secure position, with only your wits and the clothes on your back, never to return, exposed to the charity and vagaries of strangers.

I said 'captivated' but it was much closer to 'haunted,' but absent a sense of fear or danger. Awe might be too big a word for it, but it's on that trajectory.

Yes, I thought so too. Hard to fake those ice blue eyes of terror. But the other features are quite strikingly similar. Have we an AI head fake here?
