It is kind of messed up that as a human born into this world - a planet you inherit, you are unable to roam freely the surface, without filling out a bunch of forms, waiting decades in some cases and then getting permission to go.

I get the reasons, but still, feels very unnatural and unethical.

We are free to do what we want, but other people are free to do what they want as well, and includes trying to limit the freedoms of others. Unfortunately, there have always been people keen on marshalling as many resources as manageable to limit the freedom of people they view as below them. We call that government.
