Looks like my little elderberry cuttings and yaupon transplant survived the hard fteeze in the mini greenhouse. They had no extra source of heat, and we got as cold as 14F. #grownostr #permies #gardening #homesteading

Yep, yaupon holly that i dug up in the wild and brought up to the house, hopefully plant it if it survives.

These do really well for us. We have two weeping yaupons that are vigorous. They are the cousin of our gallberry bush, also hardy here, (inkberry, Appalachian tea) honey.

Live staking is the best, used to do so with willow and dogwood, and i believe alder

Just eventually when you have enough growth, give a little tug on the sticks. If they are stuck, you know they rooted.

Sometimes they can have growth with no roots :). Most of my winter crops look like they died, banana dead, hoping for some regrowth when it heats up. :) next year I’ll have plastic to completely cover the beds.
