The discrete Fourier transform is a beautiful mathematical tool and an absolute miracle of engineering when used correctly, but 99% of people who casually apply DFT/FFT to real-world signals have no idea what they’re actually looking at, and half the published “frequency analysis” papers in fields like biology, economics, and even some engineering sub-disciplines are complete garbage because of it.
