Would be good to know if the new drive is larger to save you some time, because a fresh install may indeed be less complicated. I'm not sure Clonezilla or Rescuezilla have a simple way of expanding a cloned drive onto a larger disk. It likely will just leave the extra space as unusable by the OS.
