I think that schools are good in providing basic knowledge about settled facts/science such as reading, writing, maths, physics but less about normative/judgemental subjects such as history, ecomomics, social sciences.

Latter are always portraid throuhg a certain lense and bias (e.g. the winner writes the history)

The public school system used to focus on basics when it was introduced more than 100y ago but since expanded into all kinds of donains leading to "indoctrinated" children/young adults.
