I had the same experience myself. Imgflip just does the job. Meming must be cheap to do. The tool doesn’t need to be sophisticated or feature‑rich; it just has to work and stay out of my way so I can create the meme I have in mind with about 80 % accuracy. I often don’t even want to do the initial 20 % of the work required for a meme.
