Because you have five S19 miners and run them 24/7?

Because at the same time, households added...

- more televisions

- more computers, network equipment t and streaming devices generally left on 24x7

- more power hungry game systems

- more phones and chargers

- more electric vehicles

- battery powered hand tools and their chargers

- more Keurig and Nespresso machines

Older homes added

- central air

- dishwashers

Newer homes with

- multi zone hvac

- heated floors

- heated driveways

- water filtration systems

Personally, I added a small solar array, had an excess of power and then I added central air conditioning. My usage obviously went up as a result.

If people were diligent about turning off lights not in use, then switching to LED would have maybe lowered their bill by about $2-5/month. For those that are horrendous and leave lights on too much, they could have typically seen bills lower by $50-$100. But we are also a good 15 years on from those switchover and residual gets swallowed by rate increases over time
