"indian" as a race doesnt exist because in india itself there are many races such as tamil, punjabi, malayalee and telugu. the concept of india as a race only exist to classify indian immigrants in other countries (e.g , in Malaysia). even then, indian in india and india in other country differs greatly. for example, the de facto indian language in Malaysia is tamil, not hindi, unlike India. beyond that, some similar races may be classified as indian in Malaysia. for instances, my grandmother is in fact a ceylonese, but classified as indian under Malaysian law.
