If you don't raise enough to cover the expense, most medical debt can be negotiated into a very reasonable payment plan.

You can usually negotiate to pay a very small amount per month. Generally as long as you continue to pay, they are fine with the reasonable payment plan. Much different than other types of debt as far as I know.
