Adding or increasing fees to roads to decrease traffic or as a green initiative does neither reduce traffic (diverts to other roads) nor is better for the environment (actually worse as everyone not wanting to pay fees goes the long slow route).

However it does add life expenses, makes the commute more insufferable and puts money in the pocket of governments and their contractors/ friends.

Making foot/cycling traffic and public transport a priority does a lot more.

Dedicated bike lanes work every time but the people making those decisions are usually fat fcks that don't ride bikes.
