I dunno, I'm still not convinced it was intentional. He's an awkward dude, and was awkward multiple times that day. The simpler explanation that he was overstimulated and flailing about seems more likely to me.

Assuming it was intentional, what does he gain from it? If its to signal to right, why do this now rather than something more subtle? If its to shock and make headlines, why not show up dressed as Goebbels?

And I messed up and replied to the wrong thread, but you get my drift

I’ve pretty much expressed my thoughts on his motive in the note you responded to. The most likely reason is to “divide and conquer”. The more benign explanation is that he’s just foolishly trolling the left but I think there is a more to it. Doing a #NaziSalute, you always get plausible deniability that it wasn’t your intention, you don’t get this chance if you wear a nazi cross. Another likely and non-exclusive reason would be to test the level of unconditional support he can get from the right to see what kind of shit he can get away with, without fearing a backlash. And yes, he’s awkward but not stupid. This video doesn’t show it but he did the salute back-to-back. The gesture is very distinctive of the nazi salute, it can’t be confused with a random gesture. Also, I don’t exclude that in addition to the reasons mentioned above he may have a liking for the fascist ideology. He’s deeply involved in the merging of the corporate and state power which what fascism is about. He’s one, if not the main figure of technocratism which is an authoritarian ideology. His grandfather was the head of the #Technocracy Party in Canada.
