the last 100 years has seen the greatest de-skilling of self sufficient skills in history.

the average person is completely depended on the state, and corporations for everything they need to live on a daily basis.

many people get mad about "you will own nothing, and be happy" without realizing they are 90% there already.

we should know how our technology works, and how to repair it.

we should know how our food is grown, and how to grow at least some of it.

we should know how to make at least some of the things we use every day.

we should not let distant politicians choose for us.

if you really see what i am talking about, you will know how vast the matrix is, and how overwhelming it seems to get out.

start with one thing. get soverign to the best of your ability in one area. just one.

Yes, the more skills the better, but makensure you master one. It is this Specialization of Labor that gives you the ability to trade with others who are experts in their particular fields

I think about this a lot. Despite being a skilled and resourceful person, I feel I have a long way to go.

For example even just knowing what kind of wood to make handles or spoons or other wooden tools from.

I'm busy providing for my family so I give myself that but I do try to learn as much as I can over time to improve my knowledge.

In all honesty this deskill trend is several generations old. I think what you are doing is on the front line of reclaiming the future. It’s going to be generational.

That's a very hopeful way of looking at it!

A while back I downloaded a ton of bushcraft materials, home remedy stuff, etc. I've got it all archived on my computer so I should bust that out and start making hard copies.

I take a bit of solace in the fact that I for a full set of encyclopedias for free and I just picked up an 1883 book about writing letters. That last one isn't so much a survival thing, but I think correspondence is important, especially with the current state of spelling and crammer skills.

Ultimately, it all plays into it.

Simple rules passed down, that I am passing down.

1. Learn where your food comes from and be a part of its journey from cradle to the grave.

2. If you cant repair it, it wont serve your needs in the long run

3. Learn how to maintain your tools, this is education.

4. Share, barter, contribute and support those around you.

5. Study the seasons and know the signs around you.

6. Hold your own wealth at all times.

7. Fuck the state and taxation is theft

well said, good advice 🤙

I would only add: yes, do that, but then connect with other sovereign individuals.

Our world is far too complex for any single person to master. Specialization is important (generalists too).

No (wo)man is an island.

Indeed.
