I need an experienced #infosec #privacy based #hodler perspective you, #plebchain #babchain fam

What centralized and importantly, decentralized exchanges do you recommend for #Bitcoin (available to US citizens) and why?

I need to switch from #Swyftx (AU NZ only) and I'm looking hard at Swan, Coinbase, and Bisq.

Thx 💜

River Financial. Incredible company. They are a Bitcoin broker. Not exactly an exchange. But I can’t say enough good things about them.

Zero-fee DCA. Easy to use app. Great leadsership. Bitcoin only.

Robosats

#[2] any recs?

Just responded. River Financial is my favorite Bitcoin company.

For centralized exchanges I like Kraken the best.

Thx. Lookimg at that one too. It's international as well, right? What are a couple of thinhs you like about it?

Boring and stable.

CEO seems the closest to a real Bitcoiner of the big exchanges. Customer support very good.

Thx 🤙🏻💜

Bisq is a nice one, no kyc and pretty decentralized.

With Unchained Capital you can buy directly into multisig

Thx #[3] Looks solid. Checking in to it now

Also, what's the catch? Higher fees?

Looking into unchained myself and so far the catch is wire transfer only currently and 2k minimum for trading, which used to be 50k.

Awesome! Thx 🤙🏻💜

Centralized kraken. Clean, low fees, pro-bitcoin, solid platform, has lightning.

Unfortunately decentralized not many options. We should have had 10 by now.

Strike for centralized/kyc - bitcoin-only company, no fees at all (to purchase OR to send to your on-chain address)

Can’t go wrong with robosats for max privacy - no kyc, runs over Tor, fees are low, many payment method options

I like the sound of runs over tor. Never heard of robosats. What do you like about it vs bisq? I will research, just trying to get a temperature check 🤙🏻💜

Haven’t tried bisq although I know it’s popular. With bisq you need to download (and presumably verify) the application itself, whereas with Robosats you just open Tor browser, go to their onion address, and set up a trade.

#[4] has a 🔥 guide on it here (fyi one should no longer use BlueWallet’s custodial Lightning solution as they’re discontinuing it).

Watching it now Thx 🤙🏻💜

I use Bisq all the time. Never had any problem. Never used robotsats.

I'd say robosat for non-kyc DEX.

Kraken as main CEX

Thx! Any experience with Swan? Why Kraken over Swan? What do you like about Kraken?

Kraken has proven to have good practices.

The proof of reserve at anytime. The financial licence they got in Europe and the investments they made in U.S.

It doesn't make everything but it's an accumulation of many different things.

And last but not least :

1. They don't incentive on their own solution ( e.g : binance with their L2 eth chain )

2. They do support lightning

Note that I don't trust 100% any CEX, but from this industry Kraken seems like one of the cleanest imho

Gotcha. Thx 🤙🏻💜

Good luck 🤞 to you, lady!

I've tried Bisq, Robosats, Peach and the LNP2Pbot.

TLDR: make bisq your first choice. Stick to robosats for small amounts, if you don't own a laptop or/and if you prefer to receive your Bitcoin through the LN. Peach and LNP2Pbot are nice but not superior to the previous ones in any way.

Bisq is the kind of P2P exchanges. It requires running the software on a laptop and it has a learning curve, but once you get over it, it just works. It has more liquidity and markets than the other P2P exchanges and you will find both smallish (~100$) and large (~5000$) offers. It's security protocol for the trades is impeccable and the team behind is made by true OGs.

Robosats is nice but not as mature and developed as Bisq. Robosats is nice if you want or need to use the Lightning Network instead of onchain transactions. Trades also happen at a faster pace than the usual Bisq transaction (minutes/hours vs days), so if you are in a hurry it might be a better option. It can also be used in any computer (or smartphone) without installing specific software other than the Tor browser, so if you don't have a computer that you can use privately regularly Robosats might be a better choice.

Your message is garnering a lot of interest.
