one of the things we gave up living the way we do is the simple luxury of the Crockpot. A Crockpot uses 220 watts per hour. Over a 24 hour cooking period, that is 5280 watt hours. Our primary battery is 5kWh. you see the issue.
Last night, i used one of the small propane burners, and set it on the lowest setting possible. I placed a thick pan on it, then a ceramic crockpost insert, and on top a tea kettle half full of water, and let it cook all last night, and today. Works perfectly.

i think that is burning a fire over stones in a hole, put in what youre cooking, and burying it for a day. i havent tried that yet…

Often times I do a cast iron crock pot over the fire while camping.
