See the issue? Even if they showed emojis as normal likes it would help. I have 20 reactions on Amethyst and still 1 on Primal. As a user it's frustrating to think nobody is interacting with you while people actually do.
I thought they counted them anyway. I've never seen that difference. Primal needs to fix this.
Currently, Amethyst is among one of the only clients that handle these emoji reactions. With that being said, surely it shouldn't be up to all the other clients to adjust based on what a single client is doing.
Actually, Nostrudel.ninja and Nostter.app also support emoji reactions
Just count them as likes.

Primal does count 🤙 next to the +.
You actively don't count reactions, you filter reactions. Why blame other clients? Even if you don't care about the emoji and don't want to add it, still a kind 7 event exists and you guys filter it out instead of just counting it. And please understand I'm not trying to blame and critic here, I just want to make you aware that your users might be happier to actually see reactions they get on their notes. Even if you count all kind 7 reactions just as a heart(+), people know someone interacted with them. Am I wrong about this?
