I see I see, so ok there's more to it. I guess my main problem then is that I simply don't want btc lmao
it's just like a social network, you are on it because you want to transact with the other people that are on it. if you want to buy things from nostr:npub1uzt238htjzpq39dxmltlx60vxym9fetk9czz6kddq6fhvkf4z3usy9qtrh and zap people etc
Robosats is a major draw, it's pretty easy to find liquidity in and out of Bitcoin as long as the amounts aren't too large. you can also buy and sell Monero for Bitcoin extremely easily there.
Discussion
as I am First Priest of the Church of Cryptoisomorphism, I try and stay up to date on the different ways to move between chains.
What's your take on xmr->btc atomic swaps, is that a reasonably private way to aquire btc? Assuming all my monero has been aquired through mining and p2p and my cold btc wallet being air-gapped.
The threat model here being theft by the glowies
sure. sounds great, as long as you dont mind dirty Bitcoin.
but *what xmr to btc atomic swap??
Oh wait, eigenwallet (unstoppable swaps) is btc to xmr only...?
I've never actually tried to swap obviously lol are there any others that are generally trusted?
my understanding is that the difficulty in creating specific spend conditions on monero make xmr -> btc swaps hard to do.
but solvable.
for now we have the semi trusted setups like Robosats and Retoswap.
Also re: dirty coins, as long as a way to swap them back to xmr exists, I think I should be ok. I think we won't find ourselves in a future where dirty coins are rejected even by individuals without there being plenty of writing on the walls that btc is dead so hopefully I'll be able to pull out before then.
