What does "Broadcast" do?

And "request deletion"?

Why am I even seeing this on amathyst?

..... Just no... that's not how this is supposed to work!

Imo,

Just like you can't revrese a bitcoin transaction or zap ⚡️, you shouldn't be able to "reverse" what you said to the public.

This upholds user accountability and offers the note poster easy reflection to learn and then grow from as an individual.

I had an experience with this when I missed the hellthread and had to learn about relays because my feed was all spammed up... I was throwing a fit like a 12yr old....🤣

Broadcast sends the note to the relays you are currently writing to.

Request deletion is exactly that: a request. It's NIP-09. Nostr clients implement NIPs...

(The request will be denied by some relays.)

Thoughts?

broadcast will push an event to relays you're writing to.

example: I have a private relay to archive my notes (and other stuff) which I can connect to my phone over tailscale. if I make a post when I'm not connected to relay, I can connect after the fact and hit "broadcast" so the relay will have the event.

as for delete event, that would require collaboration of all relays that store that event to all delete it, which could be difficult to do.
