Rebels also claimed they have downed the plane.

Geolocaters also seem to confirm.

A C-130 can take quite a few hits and keep flying, I doubt the rebels MANPADs could do it without multiple lucky hits.

I'd be more inclined to think this is an F-35 at work...

They have the skills and the will to take out Assad regime and install their own”terrorist” rebels, who may be more compliant. And maybe not.
