One thing I loved about Adopting Bitcoin 2023 was hearing about the many ongoing adoption projects around the world.

Communities in the Philippines, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, Peru & all cross Africa are opting out and choosing #bitcoinĀ for a better future.

Really? Great! But...How do they get internet and transact on sats in the land of dictators Fidel/Castro/Diaz?

Here in Brazil, we are already obliged to declare digital transactions to the government, from pix to sats (in brokers). In 2024, the DREX digital currency will be implemented (mandatory) šŸ™„... and we will be prohibited from carrying and using paper currency and taxed until the last sat in any bank transaction

Damn, things are not looking great for Brazil then.

It seems like in Cuba theyā€™re using it primarily as a SoV and for remittances. They developed an amazing telegram bot where you can find someone to do p2p buying/selling instantly. They also use it to make purchases in some places but thatā€™s not a primary focus yet.

Plus, you donā€™t have to disclose anything to the govt if you donā€™t want to. Itā€™s bitcoin, itā€™s F u money šŸ˜„
