I believe this happened after introducing Statuses. And only happens when you are viewing a thread.
For some reason your doesn’t, but almost everyone else it does.

atm i prefer the ephemeral, out of context, status updates on old notes
however, choosing whether or not to persist a status update on a note, will likely add to the weird, so i’m probably in favor long term

I’ve had this in the last two updates I think. Only appears on the selected note of an opened thread.
