Mother’s Red Flannel Grog scented the house like a cinnamon nutmeg clove dream and tasted good enough that my college-age niece wanted a go-cup after drinking two mugs here. That was before I added rum, which did not drag the drink down.

My pilgrimage to no less than four grocery stores was at last rewarded with whole nutmeg, not ground, that cost an arm and a leg.
