Will it work? eh….maybe not, but if you hit the right pressure points in the HR apparatus, (have a woman write it as if she’s narcing on the boys planning their exit) then you just might get a 3% bump?

I had something similar once, because they overheard us talking about jumping ship to a new place opening up nearby, we mysteriously had the partners approve a blanket ~8% COL increase of almost a dollar an hour. Nothing amazing, sure, but there wasn’t insane inflation in the late 00’s

i can't really complain because i got a ~18% raise last year and still live like a poornigger. like the job too. but the recession is already showing in our sales numbers and i'm eying the door, if the right posting comes along. no room to be anything but entirely mercenary these days

I don’t mind my job but I’ve sent out 3 applications lately, just based on people telling me “hey we need dudes, you should totally apply, I’ll recommend you”

It’s all musical chairs here, the boomers are finally retiring en masse and leaving some panicked C suites in their wake

I just did that myself, though it took me like a year to find a job with the pay I wanted that wasn't at a total shithole. Seeing as I wasn't in a rush to get a job I was able to play hardball, although I it took me a few interviews to nail down my schtick.
