+1 Ive adopted a pretty similar policy recently.

i run my own - and the vps also hosts a gitea instance and my nip-05, out of a data center in romania... most sites don't know where i am or keep irritating me - google maps, for example, i set my home address to madeira and every time i open the site it plops me in the middle of nowhere romania, and lots of sites give me Leu prices but if they straight up mess with me i have better options and i will find them
My credit card provider started doing this recently. I guess they don't care if I pay them back.
