I don't know the right way to do this so I'm just going to wing it. My first post on Nostr. So many questions, so much to learn. I have no idea who will read this post, may it find who it needs to.

I have recently returned to South Africa after nearly two decades in BC, Canada. There I witnessed the rise of wokeism, the Covid madness, the division of society, the evisceration of money and society in general. I am eternally grateful for the Canadian experience. I count myself as privileged to have had this amazing experience.

So now, my goal is to become as self sovereign as possible. Not for selfish reasons, but to be ready for the next phase. We all have an idea of what is inevitable - financial system meltdown, censorship, erosion of freedoms etc.

Thanks to the worldwide Bitcoin tribe for sharing your vision of strength, wisdom and freedom. Sound money plus our amazing tribe tells me there is hope.......

Gardening, water harvesting, off grid energy, neighboring up, community building, reading, researching. Much to unlearn and much to learn. I feel like an infant taking first steps.....

My current pet project is my newly launched Lightning Node running on a RaspiBlitz.

This is where I ask for help. I have no idea which peers and channels I should choose and how to set them up and run the node.

If possible I would like to set it up in a way that enables BTC / lightning adoption to the maximum extent in my community, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

I am having a hard time finding ANYONE locally to talk to about all things Bitcoin. I can't do this on my own.

Should I make the node public? Who should I reach out to in South Africa for help / cooperative projects?
