Quite disappointed with the latest #TFTC episode. I was hoping for an intellectually engaging discussion around the anti-transhumanistic arguments. Instead, I just got some good old Christian moralistic bigotry and doomsaying.

With these kind of defendants, anti-transhumanists will end up as small communities of religious zealots, isolated from the rest of the society and stuck in time. Just like today's Amish communities.

As a cherry on top, the guest finished his 1h+ sermon saying he accepts payments for his book in all three forms of #Bitcoin: BTC, BCH and BSV 🤦‍♂️

No God, no homeland, no master.

I shut down at the mention of god and Christianity. Fundamentally it implies that as a non believer I am inferior to a christian. I give Marty Bent the benefit of the doubt, listening to the episode, because he is a smart guy in bitcoin land, but the core ethos of the religious talk leaves me cold.

Agreed. I don't always agree with Marty in many topics. Yet, I keep coming back to listen his show because, for the most part, I find his own and his guests' opinions insightful. This episode however, I found it sub-par.

The topic in question is an interesting one, and one I'd like to see discussed in depth from a philosophical and ethical perspective. So many fundamental questions around what being human is, if a technology invented by ourselves can make us less human, where should we draw the line on technology adoption...

If all you have to bring to the table is arguments taken out of an overblown fantasy novel written a couple thousands years ago, I'm not interested.
