What are the zaps? How do I learn how it works?

I just joined yesterday and came across this video. It explains what they are (essentially, it’s tipping other users in sats) and how to set it up in your Damus account.

You basically need a lightning wallet app. Wallet of Satoshi is the easiest to use. There you’ll find a lightning address when you hit receive (looks like an email address). You need to copy it to your nostr profile.
