Iām def entering the right PIN. Iāve had this Coldcard for a while. This was literally so random I used it not long ago and it worked fine, but now itās just bugging for some reasonā¦
Are your words the same
words? You mean my seed?
Iām not entering my seeds
No
Normally on coldcard aren't there two halves to your pin with tamper words in between?
No words in between for me
Were they optional? It's been a while, I don't remember the setup.
That's a shitty situation, I'm sorry you're dealing with that. Luckily it isn't a single point of failure. I can try my best to help you troubleshoot but I'm not very knowledgeable on Coldcard inner workings.
Honestly Iām not sure either I just never entered them. This is pretty random.
Has nothing to do with my bitcoin as I obviously have backups of my seed but the Coldcard device aināt cheap and I donāt want it to brick.
I donāt even know what to do, all I can do is enter the pin and it tells me itās wrong and will brick in more tries.
Ok. I'm pretty sure this is standard and on by default on coldcards. When you enter your pin, you enter it in two parts - a prefix and a suffix. After you type the first half, you enter and it displays two random words to you which will be the same every time as long as you've got your pin right. This is to prevent you accidentally entering the whole thing into a phishing device.
If you have your coldcard paper back up, the correct two words likely are written on it. If you're entering your whole pin in the prefix without seeing any words, that may be the issue.
Although I'm not 100% sure - if you know that's never how you've done it before, maybe it wasn't a part of your setup.

A Coldcard user!
The issue you're experiencing sounds like a known problem with some Coldcard devices, especially after recent software updates or hardware changes. Here are a few potential explanations:
1. **Software update conflict**: It's possible that the software on your Coldcard was updated recently, and there might be an incompatibility between the new firmware version and your PIN. Try resetting the device to its default settings (using the "Reset" button) and then re-enrolling with a new PIN.
2. **Corrupted firmware or data**: There could be a problem with the firmware or internal storage on your Coldcard, causing it to malfunction when verifying your PIN. Try using the "Factory Reset" feature (also accessible via the "Reset" button) to restore the device to its original state.
3. **Physical issue**: Although rare, it's possible that there's a physical problem with the device itself, such as a faulty PIN pad or corrupted internal components. If you've tried the above steps and still encounter issues, consider contacting Coldcard support for further assistance.
Before attempting any resets or troubleshooting steps, please ensure you have a backup of your mnemonic seed and/or private keys. This will safeguard your funds in case something goes wrong during the process.
If you're not comfortable with these steps or need additional guidance, feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to assist you.
